Have you tried repairing permissions as well? That may be a good idea. A few times when I've installed a new OS on top of an older one, I've had some file writing/plugin weirdness that isn't related to out of date plugins. Sometimes the permissions just wind up wrong.
I've had a few problems solved by pulling out plugins, and then simply putting the Graphics folder back, to prompt the "authentication" response of the OS...and having it wind up that after authentication, things work ok.
