I don't think you mean to, but it seems here like you're conflating the
sync feature with the more specific issue of sync'ing relative volume
levels of sync'd players. I think a lot of people use sync, but only a
subset of that group feel the need for the feature you seek. I have no
idea how big that subset is. My guess is it's a minority of those who
use sync, but that's just a guess. I regularly sync my players, but I
*prefer* to control each player's volume separately. You have different
preferences and that's fine. But don't assume that because other people
aren't enthusiastic about this feature that they're not using sync.

If it's really important to you, I don't see why you don't get the
cheapest iPod Touch and iPeng.
