I agree with Jon - the alarm does always sound in my experience, but it's just a question of whether it is what you wanted to hear or the fallback sound (or the first followed by the second!). I think many people class the fallback sound as a failure whereas actually at least it's doing something. (it would be useful to write an app to switch what's been called the "disco heart-attack" to something from sounds and effects but that's a project for another day!) I did have a spell about 6 months ago where the radio would lose the BBC stream for whatever reason and then remain quiet but that went away with one of the 7.5 updates. For maximum alarm reliability (by which I mean playing the music you want, when you want) I think you need: - a local SBS on a reliable PC/server - a wired LAN connection - to set the alarm to play a local music, not streamed over the internet Other variations, such as connecting over wifi, using MSB and playing an internet (especially BBC) radio stream, starts to introduce points of failure which may result in switching to the fallback sound. That's not to say it doesn't work, just that there's more to go wrong outside the SB Radio's control. The quality of your broadband connection may play a part too - mine (O2 Access - groan!) varies a lot in quality (e.g. seemingly random traffic shaping and drop-outs) and I found when the Radio often lost contact with MSB and wouldn't reconnect without rebooting it. Since I've been on a local SBS, rather than MSB, it's been much better.
