I have used the Boom as an alarm reliably for just over a year. The audio stream is set to a URL of the local NPR station. This recently started failing, but I can watch the Boom alarm trigger, then connect, so I believe it is the stream that fails. Of course, the Boom can't detect this failure.
I use the Radio (in an adjacent room) with an internal sound chosen, as a backup alarm, set ten minutes later, for days when it matters. That way, the connection or stream issue won't matter. As I understand it, the Radio stores the next alarm internally. I use only MySB.com. The Boom has had a situation with certain Alarm (Alarm 2 or 3 or?) coming on, running for a minute, then resetting and coming up again.
