Sounds like I am hearing that it is impossible to be led by the Spirit and
operate a scouting program. That you must choose either the one or the
other. In fact, seems that over the course of the last couple days, someone
has claimed to have made the latter choice. I say that this view is
inconsistent with what I have learned about leadership from the Bible and
from being on both sides of the learning process, which is the transeferance
of imformation. When we read the Psalms, 1st and 2nd Samuel, Kings, and
Choronicles, you can plainly see that it is possible to perform mundane,
"secular", logistical functions and be led by the Spirit. May I go as far to
suggest that you can do "all things through Christ which stengthens" you?
That it is possible to be led by "divine guidance" 24-7? The trick is, to do
the one without leaving the other undone. Read Colosians. You'll see that
Christ must be the center in all things, even the BSA, if it will ever be
worth two cents. Will your work be hay, stubble, or gold? And when the earth
and all the elements therein burn with a fervent heat, what will stand? I'll
tell you what will stand, that which was done under the leadership of the
Holy Ghost. Whether it was ropecraft, patrol system, or winning a soul for
Christ, it will stand in that last day. And, that's what matters most!
