Yup, thats right we are all of the flesh but we don't have to follow it all
the time. "For as many as are led by the Spirit, they are the Sons of God".
God gave me revelation one day about this stuff that we do in Rangers-I mean
the camping, hiking, knot tying, stuff.
I wanted to start a Christian magazine about outdoors stuff. I came up with
name Camping, Hunting, And Fishing Fellowship. I wrote it out and noticed
that the first letter spelled out Chaff. Wait a minute I said, chaff isn't
a good name. So I prayed about it and the very next Sunday our pastor talked
about the job of the chaff. I almost fell off the pew. He said the chaff is
important! I didn't expect that. Yes, the chaff is the tools that are used
to bring the precious seed into this world or to this world. That means
whatever we use to bring the gospel to these boys is only the chaff-not the
end to the means. The seed is the final outcome-the harvest. At the harvest
the chaff will be blown away by the wind. Everything else will go by the
wayside.
now I understand, I told God. The chaff is OK if it brings them to you! Yes
HE confimed. There are many people who don't know me who do good things but
their hearts are not seeking after me and in the end their works will be
blown away and htey have nothing to show for it. If you seek after me and
lead others to seek me then in the end when the works are blown away there
will be precious seed left.
So to me, Rangers is not a pursuit of better knot tyers and smart campers
but men whos hearts will turn and seek after God. Isn't that really whats
its all about. I hope so.
This bickering over little petty issues of how we do is very minor. Its not
how we do it but why we do it and if it brings about the desired results of
leading boys to Christ than the Father will say well done thou good and
faithful servant.
The arguement that came up over how to treat the bully should not have been
an arguement. We are all different and will handle each situation
differently. God knows that and created us that way. Your way is not better
than your brother or sisters to anyone except you. God looks at the fruit.
Do it your way with all your heart but do it as unto the Lord.
If God has led you Duane into the BSA to be His voice than that is good-go
for it. Be the best voice that you can be for Him. Lead them boys to the
source-Jesus. Nothing else matters in the next life.
Bob Simons

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give
you hope and a future. Jer. 29:11
