Howdy-
Now that I've moved on down the line, I'll be honest with you about what I'd do.. *I'd accept them as presented.. Here's why. Sorry this sounds like sour grapes- <G> *No where in Royal Rangers is there stomache to confront a Commander "Dad" with a hot pen in his sons handbook. Further, there's no firm standard set as to what level of compitence or fullfillment of the requirement other than a Commanders word. This is "Beleved to be enough.." *But as you wander down the Ranger road you do wonder at the "ethics" your situation shows. There is no way to confirm that the boy didn't earn what is claimed. Again it's just the word of a fellow, and the integrity is on the signer not the boy to hold "ethics high, no-more no less that required" *Even worse on the ethical slide downhill is that there is zero 2 deep leadership required to witness the act or is there any record kept of the "signoff" or review by a follow-up "board". In Boy Scouts- A merit is earned following requestion a 3 section "blue card" and then after a "Merit Councilor" is assigned, the boy begins to work on it. A Merit councilor never conducts one on one meetings, or does anything with out 2 scouts and himself or two leaders and the scout there to back the achievement. When completed, section one of the card goes to the councilor to keep. section two goes to the scoutmaster, who records it and sends it to the District office to hold on file. Section three goes to the boy, who *MUST present the actual card at the time of earning Eagle Scout. All advancement is double recorded with the troop and the scout.. *AND it is the duty of the scout- to be able to PROVE HE EARNED the merit by produceing the card with sign-off of the councilor (Who BTW Must be trained to be a councilor) to Scoutmaster OR he must re-do the required merit over.. Again.. the Scout is resopnsible NOT the Adult leader for the rank advancement or merit. *Why do I feel stong about all this? ------------------------------------ When my son.. GMA #3911 and I joined the troop we agreed that it was to be Josh's lead to advance and whatever happened *I would not sign-off on a scout requirement. * I have kept that PROMISE.. and found it rewarded my son with a deep sence of Honor. That in turn feeds his MORALE and as we know that breeds Leadership. As a Sr.Commander, my name is all over his Royal Ranger Handbook. When we came to a bump in the road, the "Childrens Pastor" decided to just "sign-off on the GMA" to cycle out the remaining trailblazers into youth as he shut down the Outpost! "I can do that, because we are *sovern and where it says "Pastor".. that is me!" said the recent grad of NW Bible College and be-loved man of God<G> So- *I've been thru the ringer with Ranger "ethics"... I even had a Sr.Guide who was "awarding" himself rank out of swipeing the awards out of the storage locker! He "made up" that a former Commander had been signing him off *Just to stay ahead of the "game".. *In that case, Trailblazer cdr. and myself met with "MOM" and asked for a letter to verify his current rank and awards from this "former Commander".. The next week "Mom" brought in a uniform and all the awards he had.. "Chris will be attending Youth from now on" *Scratch one Sr.Guide- Go Slow- Doc --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > The Pioneer is moving up to Trailblazers soon.
