Jim, please thank your son for me for serving all of us and laying his life on the line for our Freedom.  I appreciate it very much and thank you and your family for your sacrifice as well.

Hey, would you guys kindly stop beating a dead horse?  No one is "Flying" any Ranger emblem or Ranger flag higher or over the US Flag.  It's a PATCH, not a real flag,   If your uniform gets dirty or accidentally hits the ground are you going to retire it & burn it in a dignified ceremony like a US Flag?  Hardly...  Besides it only is there to designate what country you are from.  I proudly put the US Flag patch on my uniform and wear it.   
 
Just to reinforce my position, I asked my son who just arrived back  over the weekend from 8 months of duty in Iraq.  He said the Military does the same thing, they wear the US Flag Patch under their Combat patch.
