You bring up an excellent point. Can a young man earn the GMA and not
have completed the Pioneer standard track. I would believe this to be
true. Especially in the case of a young man entering the outpost as a
Trailblazer. Reading from the "Leaders Manual" Revised 1998 Edition, pg.
189: "After having earned the highest rank of the Trailblazers standard
and Gold Track ratings, a boy may earn the top award of the Royal
Rangers program: the Gold Medal of Achievement."  A part of his
requirements as a Trailblazer is to have completed the Pioneer Gold
Track. 

Is the Gold track just the bible work? No, it also includes both
required and elective merits and other camping skills. What the Gold
track does is give direction to the Ranger, helps break down the larger
task into smaller bites (easier to accomplish this way).

If the fog has cleared, then it's land ho!
