I have a NTC patch but can't wear it. I know alot of FCFers who are
Godly men. What I am saying below will hurt some of your feelings and
may very well anger you. If it does so then perhaps I have put some
light on some things that maybe we shouldn't be doing as Christians.
Come out into the Light. If it cant't stand the light then there is
something shady about it.
One question I ask. Is it good for the Green horns or is the "good" in
the fun you have in it?
NTC and Phase Testing...hum, so far my impression has been in the latter
part. (as I quote you: "hee hee hee")
I could be wrong in my impression but as of todate I am still looking for
evidence to the contrary. All I hear from closed circles is "this is what
they did to me". To put trust in a group of men that will put a blind
fold on you take you out into the woods at night drop you with nothing
and then come back to spy and pester you all through the night. I can't
find that type of treatment in my bible or Ranger Manual at all. I sure
hear alot of chuckling about it from the inflictors. Sure sounds like
college hazing to me and I will enjoy the day when that behaviour isn't
tolerated in the Asssemblies of God. Show me the right way to treat a
boy or a brother in Christ.
If I was to take a Royal Ranger out and put him through a NTC or Phase
II campout/testing. I can with little to no hesitation tell you he won't
be back on Wednesday night for Rangers, this being so why do we want to
do this to our men? Show them the RIGHT WAY. I guess I don't understand
the big picture.
I can tell you, if you run your outpost accourding to the Bible and the
Leaders Manual and treat your leaders with Love and Respect you can have
a outpost of 20 leaders active and working each Wednesday night in your
RR outpost. Take 30 plus outings a year, Attend most of the RR Events
and have a outpost of Rangers and Leaders who love one another and love
to camp and laugh and have a hoot of a time exploring God's green earth.
My model is WWJD and his commandment is Love one another as I have
loved you.
I know alot of leaders who are in FCF and I value them very much. This
isn't a personal issue it is a ethicical issue. As you can see I feel
very strongly about it. I pray for the day that I don't feel this way
but today I am telling you the truth of how I feel about it. I had a
commander who wanted to punish the boys with pushups infront of the
outpost if they did something wrong or forgot something or what ever... I
asked him if there was a better way in confidence. He said he thought it
was good for them it built character and I heard a few more "good "
excuses for it. He did it again in a opening ceremony and the boy I felt
was very much embarrissed. Later in the Opening ceremony I caught the
commander doing some trival thing and called him to fall in upfront which
he did. I then asked him to give me 10 pushups for so and so and he
looked at me with hurt in his eyes and before it went much farter I
stoped and told him he didn't need to do that his mistake was covered by
the Blood of Jesus and he was forgiven. Later he came up to me and told
me I know how a boy feels when I made him do pushups infront of the
group. I won't do that again.
I am just a sinner saved by Grace. Show me the Right way.
