As for fun yes you will have fun and great fellowship as an FCF member.
The membership is for the elite Ranger who is prayerful in his daily
life, and yes FCF isn't everybody. If the thoughts of primitive camping with
out modern convenience is not your cup of tea, then you are not a good
candidate.
I myself believe that I was meant for FCF..... As a boy who was in the
boyscout program I had a leader who was really into the Civil War and we
camped and hiked many of the battlefields in the Kentucky,Tennessee area. I
always had great interest in American History and a love for the outdoors.
When I was saved and became involved in the Royal Ranger Ministry, FCF was a
natural choice for me. In fact the sectional agent at the time told my
senior commander that I was a natural for the ministry and that he would be
a fool to not use it. The Ropecraft and other outdoor skills that we are
taught in LTC and are tested on in Phase one came so easy that at times I
have a hard time understanding how others don't find it so easy.
Today was the Cincinnati Sectional pinewood derby and we did phase one
testing at the derby for the candidates who where interested and I worn my
FCF outfit to the event. Yes I did stand out in the crowd , but the
questions by the boys , parents and yes even other commanders showed the I
was letting my light shine and even the 8 inch throwing knife on my hip and
shooters bag was a useful tools. One boy asked me what I was carrying in the
bag, and I told him "things that I need" . With a puzzled look on his face
he said like what and I opened the bag and produced a leather cover BIBLE .
well worn at that.
If the only reason you or anyone is interested in FCF is to have another pin
for the uniform then the ministry may not be for you.
We are told as a membership not to harass the candidates during phase two
but to be a true light as to great fellowship and brotherhood that FCF
offers us. The reason of phase two is to teach and welcome the candidates .
Yes we are a different culture and breed but just like a missionary going
into a foreign land will find the people there as a different people that
has ways and beliefs that are different than theirs . Yes it is natural to
be timid going into something new but we have much to offer you.
