Let me try and give you a different perspective. Baptisim is a serious matter
and should not be taken lightly. I grew up in and A/G church and I think
through the years it became more of a ceremony you went through. It became
very routine much like communion has. We do it, we understand it, but we
don't give it much thought and in some ways we take it lightly. Recently we
changed denoninational ties to the Christian Reformed Church. Each church is
different but at our's communion is not done on a monthly basis like it was
when I grew up, but when we do , it becomes a time of interspection and
prayer and you are encouraged not to take it lightly. The same with
baptisim. They don't do it just because you just got saved. They want you to
be sure of your salvation and be committed and understand you commitment
before you are baptised and frankly sometimes kids dont fully un!
derstand
what they are doing. The kids and even parents need to be well grounded in
the word before they take that step. So, yes it would be good to wait until
the boys are back at church and have had some more teaching. Also you do not
want parents thinking you are doing something behind their backs. We must
always be above board now a dayslest someone thing we are being cultish. You
might even say it is a common sense thing to do and in no way would you be
shirking your responsibility as a Commander.
