Hi Rangers,

Here in Germany on of the requirements for a trailblazer's first class- and
advanced rating was to complete the bible merit (by now they split it up in
three parts: first class, advanced & master).
In the beginning you had to read:
genesis, exodus, numeri, deuteronomy, joshua, judges, 1st & 2nd samuel, 1st
& 2nd kings, 1st and 2nd chronicles, psalms, proverbs, matthew, mark, john,
acts, romans, 1st and 2nd corinthians, galatians philippians, ephesians,
colossians, 1st & 2nd thessalonians, 1st and 2nd timothy, titus, philemon,
1st & 2nd peter, 1st - 3rd john, hebrews, james, jude and the revelation

Since then the National Office ist cutting back the requirements by
splitting them up (see above) or by deleting books from the list stated
above. The most recent version I have (and I know they want to change
requirements this year again) is:

genesis, exodus, 1st & 2nd samuel, 1st & 2nd kings, psalms, proverbs,
daniel, mattehw, john, romans, 1st and 2nd corinthians, galatians,
philippians, ephesians, colossians, 1st & 2nd thessalonians, 1st and 2nd
timothy, titus, philemon, 1st & 2nd peter, 1st - 3rd john, hebrews, james,
jude and the revelation

The problem was that many rangers did lose interest in advancing because of
the large portions of bible reading. I think cutting back the requirements
is not a solution (until you would not abolish it completely). The problem
is getting the rangers interested in reading the bible. So even a heavily
bible based program will only work if you get your rangers interested in it.

What we do with our pioneers is the following: The devotions and bible
studies in our pioneer's OP ar based on the scriptures the rangers have to
read for their advancements (which is pretty much less than in
trailblazers).

The problem in trailblazers is that the amount of scripture the rangers have
to read exceeds the capacity of our weekly meetings. Maybe a plan for a
daily lecture could help out...
