Stephan,

You CANNOT, I repeat CANNOT read this book or condone the reading thereof and still be in God's will, according to the Word. It says to flee the very appearance of evil. If the Harry Potter series does not appear this way to you, I would humbly suggest that you spend some time with your Maker. That goes double for the dunce on here who said this is a good read. This book, and some of the opinions in regards to it, are examples of the moral decay that is even pervading the church. A friend of mine spoke to a woman on a plane who told him that her pastor advised her to have an affair. Said maybe it would give her husband a wake-up call. Jesus was tougher on sin than anyone, yet never judged anyone. There IS a difference. The world is not a misunderstood friend, it is your ENEMY. It HATES you. Why on earth you people defend it so much I'll never understand.

Hi,

> John, If Josh feels strongly that he should not read the Harry Potter
books

One of my brother's friends who is a professor at an AoG theological
seminary once said: 'Only by reading you will find out what is not worth
being read.'

> change opinions of those who feel things are ungodly?

My favourite christian band had the following song on one of their CDs:

Everybody lokk there's a new bandwagon in town
Hop on board and let the wind carry you around
Seems there's not enough to keep us busy 'till the Lord comes back
Don Quixote's got to have another windmill to attack

Another Witch Hunt looking for evil wherever we can find it
Off on a tangent, hope the Lord won't mind it
Another Witch Hunt, takin' a break from all our Gospel labor
On a crusade but we forgot our saber

There's a new way to spend all our energies
We're up in arms instead of down on our knees
Walkin' over dollars trying to find another dime
Never mind the souls 'caus we really haven't got the time

So send out the dogs and tally ho
Before we sleep tonight we got miles to go
No one is safe, no stone is left unturned
And we won't stop 'till somebody gets burned
Brothers

I don't want to judge the Harry Potter books, because I have never read
them. The problem I see is that this is the same with most people that judge
them to be ungodly. Most people I have heard talking about the dangers in
Harry Potter (yes, it is the same over here in Germany) had to admit they
knew about that from a book/from another person... This is what I would call
a 'Witch Hunt' (how matching...).

> YOU have no idea what convictions God has placed in the lives of OTHERS.

This may be right, but you will have to admit that there is some other guy
that might also be placing convictions in people's lives, for example
wanting them to start witch hunts like these.

One can also read a book in a critical way (to know whether it is worth
being read or not (see above)).

I hope it was helpful and without judgement (I deleted a part I thought to
be somewhat judging), if not please forgive me...

Always prepared for Jesus.
