Karen:

Most DSL lines go through a modem/router combination anymore and most of the newer routers have a built-in firewall that you can access from your web browser to configure. Also, it could be a software firewall such as ZoneAlarm or the firewall that comes with Windows XP.

That's exactly what I thought.  I have no firewall here,
but I figured they probably do since they have a DSL line.
I asked their hardware guy, and he CLAIMS that there is no
firewall.  He should know.
