Bill

I tried your suggested method. THANKS! It took about 30 seconds (to find the
help file, to test it and prepare the implementation) then I was ready to
implement it.

So I guess my old habits that hard are just old habits that shall be
replaced, so even if am old I am now no longer a fuddy duddie!

Gunnar, you old fuddy duddie! Gone and not needed. Gateway can do awesome
things, and can be automated totally with the help of *.rgw specification
files.

I still use DOS for a very limited number of tasks where I believe dos is
better (like importing a fixed length ASCII file through a form), are you
saying that that possibility will be gone when converting to 8.0 or more
important version 9.0)

Dan,

For me it has been amazingly easy. Easier than 1-2-3!

Except for a change in icon color on their desktops, users had no way to
tell that anything had changed.

(But there were one or two fuddy duddies, who mourned the fact that they
could no longer start R:BASE for DOS and do stuff in the database the same
way they'd been doing it since 1983.)

Did you run 7.6 previously?? If so, does V8 have faster performance??

Also, if you upgraded from 7.6, how hard was the upgrade.

I am on the fence of upgrading or waiting until 9.0 comes out.
