I came of age when center-pulls were sheap and crappy and did a poor job of "speed modulation" (to borrow a term from Jan Heine). I never got over my disdain for them; and I don't know anyone locally who has them brazed onto a bike and who might prove me wrong. Altering a frame is an investment and I would prefer to go with what I know. While brazing on the Canti's could make the difference I think I'd rather go with cantis. --Beth
