Huh? Please feel free to quote the messages that you feel "verbally
assaulted" you and we'll let the members decide what should be done.
My original message said that it would indeed be "fair" for you to use
an "arm-mounted" control system and, in fact, I encouraged you to be the
first such person to bring one to the battlefield. It wasn't my best
sarcastic work (I'm working on a new curve-ball delivery), but you
didn't give me much to work with.
Fred Thomson translated my humor for you, just in case you didn't know
how to read sarcasm. Thanks Fred. In the future, I'll have Fred add a
"closed caption" version at the bottom of all my messages for the
reading impaired.
You then responded with a message that ended with "Maybe one day you'll
get horribly sick and die". Which, I believe is the equivalent of
"nanny, nanny, boo, boo ... your pants are on fire".
Then my good friend Mr. Tyng made fun of me and my ways ... which was
totally within his rights as a close friend, totally in keeping with
almost 10 years of on-going banter on this mailing list and, as a matter
of fact, quite witty for someone like Mr. Tyng (who reportedly was held
back in kindergarten because he wanted to use a wooden pencil instead of
crayons).
Mr. Conn couldn't help but add his two cents worth (he's literally paid
by Microsoft to put down anyone who advocates open-source computing),
indicating that my medication rate was possibly too low. I have, of
course, sent his name to the White House for consideration as the head
of their new health care program.
Then you stated that "I took him as a grumpy stick in the mud." Ouch.
Ignoring your seething comment, I respond to Mr. Tyng in a manner that
has been seen hundreds of times on this list over the years. Dr. Sommer
threw me a softball pitch and I hit it back up the middle with force.
(Please, no extra comments on that sentence :-)
And, then my brother decided to throw a little humor back at you and you
now declare the whole list to be a horrible place to visit.
So, before you rant back at all of us and tell us that we don't know how
to treat newbies, I encourage you to do a little research and find out
who you are accusing. I'll make it easier and give you our full names
in a convenient list:
Frank Pittelli
John Pittelli
Steve Tyng
Joe Sommer
A couple quick searches of the mailing list archive and the R/C Tank
Combat website will probably provide you with some valuable insight. If
you want more input, feel free to post a message and ask all 271 members
how many of them were helped by one or more of the people on that list
when they were a newbie. (By the way, I can honestly say that I was the
only newbie in the hobby who didn't receive any help from anybody.)
To my knowledge, you are the first person in almost 10 years who thinks
that our little mailing list is not a nice place to visit and that the
people in the list above are just mean people who like putting down
every newbie who comes along. You couldn't be further from the truth.
