"i am so sick and tired of everything i see in the stores saying "Made in
China""

Blame that on the US's totally insane trade laws and a government run by
the highest payer We can't build and sell a car in Japan but the reverse
is true. Why is that? The Japanese understand that they need to keep
their people employed and paying taxes so they have very restrictive
trade policies that are in their favor. The Chinese are even worse, tariffs on
US manufactured goods in China are astronomical. A US manufactured $30K
car here costs $80K in China. Sure, we have some tariffs in place that
make it economical for foreign manufacturers to build cars in the US (in
non-union States) but that's the only industry you see this in. When
anybody ever talks about evening these trade imbalances the Wall Street
types start descending like flying monky's out of Oz screaming FREE MARKET,
FREE MARKET! You can't impact our bottom line! This is Un-American! This
has been going on for so long that the US no longer has a manufacturing
base to speak of. In electronics, there are no facilities left for
mass production of CPU chips or LED displays for example. I remember
watching some news show not to long ago that had a segment on TV's made in
the USA. It turned out to be some enterprising guy that bought what were
basically TV kits from overseas and then paid a bunch of minimum wage
employees in Detroit to screw them together. The TV's were stuffed into
boxes with a big American flag printed on it with "Assembled in USA" boldly
printed across the bottom. I bet the boxes were printed in China.

Here's a thought. Require that the manufactured goods sold by US big box
retailers, that just 1% be manufactured (not assembled) in the USA. See
how well that would go over in Congress.
