Certainly pro's and cons to the .Net / Java JVM model

When you need to have different runtimes, the RB model is nice because you don't have to worry about if the app has the right runtime.

But it does mean you carry the runtime in each app.
With lots of disk space and broadband that's becoming less and less of an impediment
