Perhaps, long-term, the goal is to have bases in Germany, UK, Italy
etc. Maybe France is just a stepping stone...?
That is first comment that has made sense.
Not really, it will never be commercially viable to market RB from 6
HQ's in Europe. (RS would have to offer many consumer software
titles for that, not just RB.)
I doubt that RS has the resource to simply open 6 offices in Europe
simultaneously; they have to start someplace.
And they made a bad start in my book unless the people they're
working with are very multilingual and multi-cultural, but the odds
for this are low in France.
When you enter Europe you must go after France and Germany first (the
big unilingual markets with populations that have reasonable income
to spend). You automatically get what's in between which is the
Benelux. Again it makes sense to be based in the Benelux. (You
handle the UK from America.)
I doubt it will be easy to do business with Germany from France,
while a single person in the Benelux could have all the language and
cultural skills to handle France, Germany, the Benelux (and even the
UK too).
But hey, they've already got France, right? :-)
