Extensions are 'Cross-platform', MacType is not.
Extensions are the Lowest common denominator, MacType is not.
Use both when you can and prefer MacType for a variety of good reasons.

Please show me how I use both!
That is just the problem, you can't use both!
If there is an MacType, the extension filter is ignored, and all TEXT
files is shown in the dialogbox.
