Why are people still using RB5.5.5 (and below)
instead of RB2006r2 and, more aptly, write here to
complain that certain features don't work in their
old version of RB?

My reasons:

#1:

For the same reason RealSoftware is still using a revamped 5.5.x build to create the IDE: team development.

We're still trapped in some trouble with external XML files with 2006r2, bug reports are in the feedback system.

#2:

Legacy support of older apps. Making a small correction or bug fix to an app that is in 5.5.5. Moving it to RB2006 will require time due to changes in RB2005/6, and lot of testing, because they behave differently with RB2006 in some cases (sockets, events, etc)

#3:

IDE/Compiler speed. When prototyping and compiling frequently to have a running framework for any of the apps we made, I use 5.5.5, and then I integrate the class with RB2006 when it's finished or a new feature of RB2006 is required.

However, we have many RB2006 licenses and waiting to buy more licenses as RB matures on #1, #2 and #3
