There are good reasons for encouraging forums (from a corporate perspective)
over mailing lists. People can raise a holy stink on a mailing list and its
totally out of the control of the vendor - mailing lists just get lapped up
by Google and the like, so if someone totally slams your company, its out
there for all eternity.

At one point, third party vendors making add-ons for REALbasic seemed to be
posting regularly - an appropriate venue since this is the place where
REALbasic developers (their target audience) would hang out. I wonder how
many were warned off against posting offers about their products (like I
was) and just became discouraged. There are two key venues to reaching RB
developers: this list and the forum. The last several press releases for
Valentina for REALbasic I sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (in order to get
posted on the forum) were ignored.
