Actually I take that back, at most of those guys have told me that one of the reasons they PREFER to be a contractor is because they don't have to worry as much about the politics as the permanent guys - and as a consequence as a lot more free ( and likely ) to speak their minds and call project "spades" a "spade", when necessary.
