What you describe is a DNS failure. Does your ISP provide DNS? If so,
you need to find out the IP addresses of their DNS servers and list
those in /etc/resolv.conf.

For example:

# /etc/resolv.conf for fred.twopoint.com

search twopoint.com
nameserver 192.168.1.3
nameserver 209.64.88.2

Alternately, you _could_ set up your own DNS server on your own box, but
for now that's probably a bit involved. Make your ISP earn their money
first. :)

If you've already done this and you're still having trouble, then maybe
your networking is still screwy. But my guess is that you've got things
set up right net-wise.
