You don't HAVE to add 3 or 4. Here is a cheaper way to do this. Go to home
depot, purchase some vinyl gutter, the kind that is plastic looking and
white on the inside. Purchase 2 end caps for it. Then, purchase a ballast
that will run 2-24" NO fluorescent bulbs. You will need the "sockets" for
the bulbs as well, a few feet of wire, a plug (I tend to butcher old
appliances for plugs), some silicone and some wire splices (the kind that
screw on to the wires are the easiest). Cut the gutter to about 26" inches
in length, mount the fluorescent bulbs and sockets into the gutter (I just
silicone the sockets in myself, seems to work really well), drill a hole
into the end caps, run the wires through that, put the end cap onto the
gutter, wire it to the ballast, silicone all exposed parts, let dry
overnight and PRESTO, you have a cheap light fixture for your sump which
will effectively grow caluerpa. Purchase a couple of plant growing NO bulbs
and you are in business. The whole thing should cost you 20 - 30 bucks, max,
and about 2-3 hours of your time. Once you are done, if you need caluerpa,
let me know, I can send you some. I will even pay the shipping. I really
think that this will help control some of the stuff you have going on in
there. It will not fix it however, and so you will need to begin putting
some $$ into more LR and LS, but this will be an effective band aid....

IMO,

Shane C.

I can't afford to add 3 or 4 bulbs and fixtures to the sump. I only
have one no on the main tank.
