True, they are. I dunno though, again we get into the discussion of overlighting. I really think the industry advocates much more light than needed. My tank is 20 inches deep. My MH is mounted in the middle. I had to put my frogspawn all the way to the left bottom and THEN block some light with eggcrate. After doing that, it colored up pretty well, and opens up nicely. If I even move the eggcrate away, it stops opening as much, and looses color. I had the same problem with my torch and another frogspawn, and notice you didnt see them in my pics. Its because I had to take them back. Just too much light and not enough caves to cover them.
MHs may work just fine, but I would bet 4 - 110 watt VHOS would be enough to do LPS and Softies just fine.....(although you dont get those glitter lines that we all LOVE!!)
