Like Joe said, you'll get a funny pattern. A 'Squalo' (just a squared 
off halo) will have a sort of donut pattern, with notches above and 
below when mounted normally. Mounting it vertically will result in 
notches in the direction of the loops. In fact, you wind up with a 
direction finding loop! They're virtually identical!
