And since you asked, here are times for the following command, over 100
runs:
SPARK_HOME=$PWD java -cp $JAR org.apache.spark.launcher.Main
org.apache.spark.deploy.SparkSubmit
Against the assembly:
avg: 0.156157615185, min: 0.148868083954, max: 0.186276912689
Against the launcher jar:
avg: 0.101513769627, min: 0.0895018577576, max: 0.130180120468
So it's about 30% faster on average (with an SSD).
