I think part of the complexity is because of the cached task... I'm not
exactly sure I understand what it's doing. Is it just avoiding re-building the
list of files on every invocation of `compile` or `test`? If that's the case,
if you add a new file, won't it be skipped by the checks? And if you remove a
file, won't you end up with an error?
