    This just seems like a lot of complexity, versus just adding style checks 
as warnings -- or am I misunderstanding what it would take to just enable that? 
it seems like a few lines of config change, except perhaps this issue of 
caching. Even that, not sure if it's worth working around. We're just trying to 
make style violations somewhat more visible during development.
