I sent that suggestion to the likes of MoveOn, CommonCause, GreenPeace, True Majority, etc. etc. etc., asking them to think about joining forces and minds to do it Votes are insignificant, unless, they also would join forces and put up a website and hold an election where anybody could write in anybody for any office in the land and see how 'we the people' actually tally up. Wouldn't that be exciting? A truly free election? Kinda makes (Peter) "sense"? But how much do you know about the persons running for the state senate of, say, Oklahoma, Phyllis? Can you give an informed vote about that? They certainly have the numbers, communication system, bucks, lawyers, good minds, et al to get either or both of those actions in motion. And, wow, what a statement and what a force if they acted collectively. Phyllis Couldn't agree more, Phyllis. But the electoral college and the popular vote only seldom return different people in USA. So the push to reform the old system hardly ever becomes widely popular. In a situation like the present one, with Dubya the usurper as our tyrant, he and his associates derive a lot of their strength from the less densely populated US states. So any serious attempt to remove the advantage those states' voters derive from the electoral college is exceptionally hard to remove nowadays.
