Here's a question from a non-horsey friend who asked me, "if Paso Finos are 
so smooth, sure-footed, and fast, why don't they dominate the sport?  Their 
pace is so fast that surely they could finish in the top ten routinely, 
right?"  I had to admit that I'd never seen one at the few rides I've done, 
but I don't know if there's a rule against it.  Are they allowed?  I did 
meet a woman riding a Missouri Fox Trotter who was amazing, and several gals 
on Quarter Horses at the bottom of a short, steep scramble who were 
muttering, "damn Arabs, we're outta here" and turned back for home, but 
haven't seen any Pasos.  What's the answer?
