AHA!!! I thought (maybe stupidly!) that the /r and /a were used to flag which type of gain to calculate. It is now clear that these options force the application of the gain itself. I had never tried it without one of these options! Thank you very much!
I now have some further questions: 1 - If only setting tags and not changing the data, how should i handle clipping? Should I use the /c to ignore it or /k to account for it? How will these options affect playback when using the tag values for normalisation? 2 - How does metaflac handle clipping? Can't find anything in the help about this at all. 3 - Both the track and album gain tags are about 0.3dB lower using mp3gain than using metaflac. Anyone got any idea why this is?
