I've followed the technical discussions about dbPowerAmp Reference as
it progressed through the beta test process. It seems to provide the
best set of features for ripping. I think that might provide a better
combination of secure ripping and high speed than EAC does. However,
either EAC or J. River Media Center 12 will provide reliable secure
ripping too.

J. River Media Center 12 costs $ 40 but it works very well for me. I
found that using MC 12 for ripping/tagging and playing music to be much
simpler than using separate tools for everything. Some advantages:

- integrated secure ripping. I've compared files to those ripped with
EAC and found no difference on files either can rip with confidence.
EAC has been unable to rip with confidence ANY track that MC 12 coud
not rip with confidence. Setup is quite easy - just select secure
ripping. MC 12 rips at about the same speed as EAC Test&Copy in secure
mode.

MC 12 has a recently ripped view to show what you have ripped so that
you can catch any mistakes immediately.

- Great tag editing features with good bulk editing facilities.

- Fully supports tags like Composer, Conductor and Band/Ensemble. It
also supports using custom tags and database-only fields to characterize
music files.

- iTunes like UI with much more flexibility.

- The Flac add-on for MC 12 just works.
