Let me start by saying, I use WMA lossless files and Windows Media
Player as my tag editor. I have followed and tried many of the
solutions put forward in this thread to the various artists problem -
nothing has worked - including a wild internet hunt for tag editors
that could set the elusive "compilation tag".

Friends, the solutions is very simple. I noticed that "original
soundtrack" is working exactly as it should on the SB3. So I simply
took the albums in my "various artists" folder and renamed the "album
artist" tag content from "various artists" to "original soundtrack"
(moving the albums in the latter folder). It works! Now all my
compilation albums are showing up on the SB3 as they should.

Artists
Original sountrack
Album 1
track 1 (artist 1)
track 2 (artist 2)
Album 2
track 1
track 2
.........

I believe this clearly indicates that there is a logical mistake in the
way "various artists" has been programmed in 6.5.1. Just keep it simple
and do it like "original sountrack". It works!

Now, the other problem I have is with Greek and Russian characters. I
do believe there is also a bug in the way Unicode is not working in
6.5.1. But, that is another thread.
Good listening,
CHR
