Hum I might point to several famous distortions in the market caused by giving away free software. Internet Explorer of course being the most famous... In the end the US competition authorities decided, after long deliberation, that it was OK because in the final analysis US consumers had benefited by not having to pay for their browser and therefore they let Microsoft off the hook even though it was clear they had stifled competition.
So I am saying EAC has also stifled competition - but in this case, but I reckon if the economists cared to look at it they would decide that the positive utility of not paying for secure rip software is actually outweighed by the negative utility of using EAC and loosing hours of one life to ripping CDs:-) Me personally I use dbpowerAmp and have paid $30 for it. But I use it the same way I use Lotus Notes at Work because I have to and I hate every minute of it. -- willyhoops ------------------------------------------------------------------------ willyhoops's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10563 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34232
