Very possible, quite dangerous, and will destroy the drive (getting tiny fragments through all the mechanical workings). Optical drives can't get any faster in rotational speed because this is the risk - optical media have hit the wall in terms of physical strength. The Mythbusters tackled this one, and the net is full of videos of it. I've seen EAC freak out when it encounters a disc it can't read at all, start ramping up speed and freeze, locking the drive in an accelerate mode. If you're not there to catch it, the speed will keep ramping up until something breaks. CTRL+ALT+DEL didn't do it - even my power button didn't stop the drive, I had to yank the power cord and my CD freewheeled down. Kind of scary. -- Mark Lanctot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mark Lanctot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34232 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
