Depends a lot of which OS you use. Some folks swear by EAC, others swear at it. On windows I usually used CDex, it was less frustrating, if perhaps less accurate than EAC. On Linux, I use grip. The quality of the data in cddb/freedb varies a lot by genre. If your collection is pop, or stuff they play on the radio, you will have a large percentage of success. For jazz, its not nearly as good. For classical, its terrible. > How many GB do I need to rip my CD-collection into lossless-files when > I have roughly 180-200 CDs? Is 500 GB adequate? Again, it depends on the CDs. You can expect to get about 50% with FLAC. So a full CD, holding 700 MB would take 350MB each. But a lot of pop/rock/current CDs are much less than a full 700 MB, so they take lots less. _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
