[SlimDevices: Ripping] Getting cover.jpg Album Art into iTunes

This is probably more of an iTunes question than a Squeezebox question,
but I crave your indulgence. There are a lot of threads around on the
topic of album art (e.g. downloading missing art from Amazon, etc), but
I haven't found one to address my problem.

I have a flac library (approx. 1000 albums) that I diligently built
with a cover.jpg in each folder that works beautifully with my
Squeezebox. I have used foobar2000 to produce a parallel mp3 library
for my iPod. The iTunes store has failed to find (or found the wrong)
album art for over 50% of the albums. I have set iTunes to leave the
folder structure of the library alone and I was wondering if there any
way to get it to load all the cover.jpg images. Suggestions would be
appreciated. Ideally I would like to avoid embedding the image in every
mp3 file (seems inefficient).
