Hi I read the guide on the wiki and have a partial success:
- I rip the DTS-tracks with DVD Audio Extractor with the setting "Direct Stream Demux" which gives a number of dts-files as output - I use the script "spdifconvert.py" to handle the dts-files, which are "padded" appropriately and the output are a number of wav-files. - ripper DTS-lydsporet med programmet DVD Audio Extractor med indstillingen "Direct Stream Demux", hvilket giver et antal dts-filer som output - I use FLAC to encode the wav-files to FLAC-format using the command line: for %F in (*.wav) do flac --best "%F" - At last I'm using MediaMonkey for tagging the files appropriately. Furthermore I've done the necessary changes (I think) in SqueezeCenter and I have succeeded in getting a surround signal from the SqueezeBox to the receiver when playing the dts-files using the toslink-connection. I like this :-) BUT I can't seem to do the trick with ac3-files! I've done the same as above (with filename-changes etc) and I get flac-encoded ac3-files as output. But when I play these through the squeezebox the receiver (Sone STR-DB940 - old but supports DTS and DD) I get a stereo signal through the toslink connection and white noise through the analogue connection (the samt kind of noise as the dts-files delivers when played through analogue) I can't figure out why DTS-files are played fine but AC3 are played in stereo (even though I rip the 6-channel tracks!) - I've tried playing the same DVDs from my (very cheap) DVD-player and both optical and coaxial connection feeds my receiver with a surround signal! Some of my DVDs only have AC3-tracks so of course I would like to be able to rip these as well but I can't figure out what my problem might be!? Furthermore some DVDs have both AC3 and DTS tracks - which one should I prefer?
