..and really didn't try to do anything clever. I transferred all the music (10k tunes) from my pc to a multimedia\itunes folder on a qnap ts109 thinking i'd just save some money before buying a duet. it was totally a mix of mp3s itunes and a couple of other formats. used itunes on my (pc) laptop to convert them to mp3 (pointed to the nas).
then (errr) i remembered that the duet i'd just ordered needed squeezecenter and i had to work out what i needed to do to talk to the nas and persuade it to load the new software. it was quite a steep learning curve but the qnap forums were amazingly helpful and i learned loads in the process. apart from not uninstalling the squeezecenter6.5.4 i which was already on the nas (ahem) it went fine. itunes on the laptop used to rip cds to the nas, and after squeezecenter (on the nas) decides its time to scan for new tunes, they all appear ok on the remote and play fine. i'm going through itunes, manually copy/pasting artwork onto the albums; this seems to be the only way it appears on the remove (after a "clear and rescan" in SC). artwork is taking a while, but i'm amazed (and so are my mates!) at how slick it all is. i know using itunes etc isn't a v high tech way of doing it, and sorry for long, not-very-helpful-post, but thought i should document my experience. :) -- jimmy riddle ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jimmy riddle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16951 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46475 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
