I am doing same as you except encoding to FLAC via the FLAC front end
tool.

Actually have a problem myself. Recent batch of recording wont play.
They play for a few seconds then stutter & slow. Tried the WAV files &
they play OK & network is 100% (plus happens on both wired & wireless
SBs) so guess not network.

Then remembered I updated to latest encoder last week & configured as 8
i.e. max compression. Just ran a few tests on 1 track & found plays
fine encoded at 0, & at 4 plays for a bout a minute then produces same
symptoms. I dont know what my previous encoded tracks were done at.

Guessing the SB hardware not up to uncompressing & then dropping the
every other sample. Presume lower compression relieves the load. My
serevr is not that powerful (pentium 3 if I remember correctly) but
assume this is irrelevant as I guess it just streams the compressed
tracks & the SB does the hard work of decompressing.

Anyone know for sure?

Guess encoding all hi-res stuff at 0 compression would be wise (dont
want to use WAV as lose tagging).

n.b. actually file size did not chnage hugely between 0 & 8 & curiously
at 6 was 1 byte larger than at 5!
