The setting > to show APE tags was somewhat buried in MP3tag. Yes if you have Ape tags then you won't see any other tags until you get rid of the Ape tags. That's one of the problems with them, a lot of programs works that way for some reason. Actually you need to tell mp3tag not to read them and then you will see the ID3 tags.
