I had tags (Nixon, Mojo & Biafra, Jello, if you must know) that resulted in Mojo Nixon being alphabetized right after the Better Beatles (not better: trust me) and before Big Audio Dynamite. Drove me nuts! MP3Tag couldn't get rid of 'em. (Or at least, I couldn't figure it out... but I tried and tried and tried...) I'm suspicious that there was something going on with MusicBrainz, but can't be sure.
I finally "converted" my mp3s to mp3s, which effectively stripped out *all* the tags with "Free MP3 WMA Converter" <http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html>. Complicated and convoluted, I know, but in my case, fixed.
