Except where there are specific clear-cut reasons for disk splits. eg. a live album where disk 1 contains music from one concert, and disk 2 contains music from another concert. In that example, I would rip them as two distinct albums. I don't often use disk numbering. What's the point? Multi-disk box sets are a little less clear. Sometimes they are just remastered compilations of several original albums, perhaps in a different order. For example, Led Zeppelin Boxed set 1 and boxed set 2. I actually ripped all of the songs, and the retagged them back into the original album groupings. Similarly with Steely Dan's "Citizen Steely Dan" boxed set. I'll probably get a new collection of early Marrilion bootleg recordings, being released as "Early Stages", which has 6 disks - 5 concerts! I'd split that up into 5 albums - one per concert, and add as a comment where I ripped the concerts from. I wouldn't want to play the whole "Early Stages" album all in one go; I'd like to browse Marillion albums and see the 5 concerts as separate albums. Each album would have the "Early Stages" cover artwork. >i can see where some people might want eg. Is there any significant reason for it to be considered as such? Are the songs on the "first record" significantly different to the "second record"? When I want to play "The White album", I like to hear it in full. If I split it into two albums, I'd have to play the first one, and add the second. It it were tagged as one album with 2 disks, I could still play all tracks, but I'd need to display disk and track number, taking up more space.
