i use winamp to add RG tags and it does it very well for me. 2.3 only afaict.
to do it, i went into prefs and configured the RG plugin to not need my approval before writing RG tags. doing this allowed me to be able to set winamp into motion to do thousands of songs at a time. i haven't checked, but i think it only sets an album gain tag by name of the album, possibly cross-referenced with artist or album artist name, or maybe folder location.... i can't say that for sure tho, and i would like to know what quirks if any it may have, like the year/foobar issue above. btw, this is another reason i split multi disc sets up... u may recall that convo. for the beatles "white album" i have a disc one and a disc two, which i think you called "naff" which i assume is some monty pythonesque english saying... well, the album gain for disc 1 will be different then for disc two, so you get a better result with less outlier variances. in other words, if i have an album thats 3, 4, or 5 CDs, the "album gain" value becomes more useless as it has to avg more songs, esp since each disc is distinctly different from the other in this way. i'm probably explaining this poorly, but i assume you know what i mean. anyway, winamp is very good for RG. -- MrSinatra www.LION-Radio.org Using: Squeezebox2 (primary) / SBR (secondary) / SBC - w/SC 7.3.1b - Win XP Pro SP3 - 3.2ghz / 2gig ram - D-Link DIR-655 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MrSinatra's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2336 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57543 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
