Does this mean that when you listen to actual LPs or CDs that you make
the RG adjustment manually by changing the volume on your amp when you
move from disc 1 to disc 2 of the same album? Because that's what your
logic implies.

You can think your way is better, but doing album gain by disc instead
of by album makes no sense to me. Imo, the "work" is the album, and #
of discs -- or LP sides -- is usually just a technological artefact.
