vortex box might be just what you want b/c it basically does everything for you, as i understand it, and its free i think, altho maybe there is a dbpoweramp price associated with it?
but i doubt WMP is adding hiss to your files. my dad uses it and while i wouldn't say it sounds as good as my EAC made mp3s for various reasons, i wouldn't say it adds hiss.
